It's midnight here in Indonesia, 00h12 to be exact. I was doing mood slides for an upcoming styling project and weird thing is my brain actually works only when its late. But again MY late is like 22h00 so, yeah, for me its MUCH LATE now.
I was scrolling down my Instagram page when suddenly I remembered what I was about to bring up here: Instagram new features! You know, Snapgram. It's not actually Snapgram but I prefer calling it 'Snapgram' than its birth name, 'Instagram Stories'. I have both accounts and I was TORN between the two of them. When its first released, I was kinda shocked because its somehow cute??? Like it was born as the annoying sister of Snapchat. Like, that younger sister that tries to take the spotlight in the family. You know, sisters.

It wasn't a love at the first sight, its quite confusing because: why would you have the new feature to share something ALONG with the main feature which has the same function...? Like, what would you fill your feed with if it all goes to the side feature a.k.a Snapgram? Or do you pick the best picture, the 'Insta-worthy', the PR set photos, the branding-nearly-made-up picture that you need to actually took with a mirrorless camera along with the excluded and overexpensive lenses? As for me, I stopped posting pictures on my feed and start on having a 24h joyful-no-evidence video?
And for Snapchat..... Gosh, I love Snapchat. Dog filter? Check. Any other filter? Check. Just the filter? Check. They're basically just the same?! I hate the fact that I need to pick only one of them because I think its pointless to do the same actions at two different platforms. Like, when you see a skating dog, you wont have all the minutes to capture that into those apps. I feel like there's too much effort to just enjoy a day. So which one should I choose?

Snapgram actually help you to engage more with all your no-Snap-Insta-crushes you have followed a long time ago. It actually feels good to finally see them better than only from their not really updated feed, right? Like, you can hear and see what they really are, and when things are not really what were you think before, you can take actions with it; unfollow or UNCRUSH, maybe? And you finally have Instagram and Snapchat in one platform so you don't have to go like "OMG this is so Insta-worthy," or "I'm so gonna Snap this," and be "I'M SO FUCKIN' GONNA SNAPGRAM THIS,".
But again, I love Snapchat's news feed. It's really useful for news-repellent like me. The way they put news on Snap format is brilliant and I think it's an effective for spreading news to youngsters even I doubt them to even read their school books. I'm enjoying my times reading NatGeo on how people's skull is sold online or even how poop are shaped exactly while I was on my "morning business". But then again, I have to make desicions (you don't, I'm not asking you to or suggesting you to choose or whatevuh) to myself. By myself.
And my choice is.........
Sorry Snapchat. Will definitely wait for dog filters on Snapgram. |
OK, my laptop and my phone and me need to sleep.
Bonne nuit a tous!
